I noticed the other day that the window trim at the bottom of the windows on Navigators has a nice chrome strip on it instead of the crappy flat black finish that is on the Expeditions. I went to the dealer and got a price quote of $31.00 ea for the front pieces and $48.00 each for the rear. My question is has anyone else done this mod and if so how easy is it to remove the trim? Do they just snap on and off or do you need special tools?

 

that is an awsome idea i would do that on my 03 if i could since i got chrome rims

 

I've seen several Expys with the Navi chrome pieces. A bunch of guys over at another forum were doing it and saying how easily the old trim pieces come off. So, I say go for it.

 

Did you change your strips for the chrome pieces? If so, how did it go? The black strips tend to discolor quite a bit....

Mountainman... no trim remover needed. The peices pop right off and the new ones pop right on. They are held in place with little metal clips that are molded into the trim peices.

 

Does anyone have a picture of this being done?

 

I never really got an answer and would rather save up for other mods at the moment, so I never did do it yet.

 

Can anybody update this... I would like to add the Navigator chrome to my fading 98 expedition sills.
