OT, just for the heck of it, who would have thought Japan would put on a custom car show like this.

I watched an episode of Car Crazy the other day, it was all about the popularity of american cars in Japan. It was a huge show put on by Moon Eyes which was purchased a few years back by a Japanese businessman.

That's interesting. I didn't realize that there were several other videos about the same event. Im still going thru them as time allows, but Its very impressing just how much American iron is over there, and how popular it is. Way cool!

In the same way they seem to admire American cars, they also have a fascination with British motorcycles. I have heard of them buying British bikes from American bike shops by the row of bikes. I have seen pictures of warehouses in Japan with rows and rows of Brit bikes stretching back to disappear into the vast depths of the shed. Unfortunately it kicks the prices up to the stratospere for the rest of us.

That was one of my favourite scenes when I lived in Tokyo!!
I met folks like Gene Winfield & Keith Weezner.......and just a couple thousand pretty girls...
The outdoor shows are cool too! Just like in the west, except, when you reach the front of the line for the food truck with that beautiful BBQ smell, it's actually cow tongue grilled on a stick! Goes great with enough beer!

Moon equipment was bought by a Japanese owner a couple decades back. To promote interest in his company's accessory line for american cars in his native country he started the Mooneyes show, shipping in top US customs and race cars that had moon products used on them, along with some of the biggest names in the field to make appearances.
