REBUILD ENGINE-1st crank-pulled fuel relay
I'm trying not to confuse the situation any more than possible so I started a new thread.
Removed and rebuilt and reinstalled my motor and before I actually turned it over for the first time I removed the spark plugs and #19 fuse (fuel pump relay) so the engine would not start and I would get NO fuel pumping then cranked the engine over for a few seconds so I could get lubrication then I reinstalled everything and started the engine and it did start in about five seconds of cranking but it idles rough.
Here's the question,
could I have damaged something relating to the fuel system by cranking the engine over while the plugs and #19 fuse was out?
Reason I'm asking is I attached a fuel pressure gage to the fuel rail and turned on the key (motor off) and I get ZERO pressure.
I thought I should have at least 35 to 40 psi??????

Key to run only, turns the pump on for only few seconds. Not enough the get to full pressure.
Turning the key on does not run the pump full time.
You need to do it at least 3 times to build to full pressure.
Starting a motor from an open system state such as a rebuild will take a few minutes to smooth out, fill the rails and purge through the injectors so the fuel regulator has no air to deal with.
You have to understand that the PCM tables are all at their centered state and cold start even has to be learned.
The PCM also has to learn a profile from the crank position sensor and the crank timing ring reference.
Then if you have any errors in reassembly that has to be realized.
Good luck.
