what size tires can i run

I have a 79 f-150 4x4, and i want larger tires, and was wondering how big of tires i can run with a 3" body lift. I want the tallest and widest tires i can fit without rubbing, and also is there anything i can do to fit wider tires without rubbing. thanks

Hey,
The 79 f-150 I used to have had 3" body lift only, and I ran 33X12.50-15 on 10 inch rims. Never had any rubbing and I ran it hard in the mud. Also you could run some bushwacker cut-out fender flares and gain even more. Just an opinion though.

Hope that helps
James

Hey,
35's really need a 4" susp. lift to work properly. Or 3" body with fender trimming might be possible. It's hard to beat pricewise a 3" body with 33" tires. That little bit of extra weight from the 35's seems to add alot more problems down the road. I was very happy with the performance, looks and stance of the truck with 33's. But obviously thats just my opinion. Good luck

I disagree. I had a set of 2.5 inch springs in the front of my 79 and 35's without any rubbing except on the radius arms. You can't help that though. They will rub there with 10 inches of lift. I never had any problems with my 35 bfg muds.
