Never seen this code before

Hey all
just decided to check my DTC today. Just something i do once or twice a week.

I have the AIH delete so that code along with the EBPV sensor which broke off when i pulled the turbo out were the normal ones that pop up.

But a new one snuck in and I've never seen it before. It was (P0381 Glow Plug Indicator Circuit Malfunction).

Even when my relay was bad i never got this code so what is this implying ?

I installed a new relay last winter along with a GP LED light. Light comes on so the the GPR should be working and i replaced all 8 GPs last year also.

Any insight would be greatly appreciated on what this might be.

Manual states one of these three as the most common causes:

open/grounded circuit
lamp open
failed PCM

Does ur light on the dash come on at all when u first turn the key and eng is cold? Did u clear the code to see if it comes back? If ur GP led light comes on and then goes out I would say ur GPR is good. Maybe ur light on the dash is burnt out and somehow sets a DTC but I could be wrong.

Well Diver Dan......
Open ground circuit ?
Lamp Open ? (not sure what this means)
Failed PCM.... Don't think thats the issue

Pitcrw..... All seems to be working fine
Light comes on for about 120sec in the morning 70* ambient temp. I wait about 40sec at this temp to start and the light stays on for a bit after i start then goes off.
At about 110* or 115* (EOT) it will not come on but anything below that it comes on and then goes off.

The light is functioning

I cleared the code the day i posted and has not thrown the code again.

Maybe just a gremlin and hopefully i scared him away.

The PCM knows nothing of your aftermarket light (it can't throw a code for that), but it knows the WTS light is there. It's also possible the PCM isn't really thrilled by the LED mod - if you put it on the command line. If I were to install an LED, it would go from ground to the GPR stud for the GPs. This eliminates any chance of interfering with the PCM signal, and it would tell me if the GPs are actually powered - not just if the command was sent.

If you tapped the Color Bk/Pk wire you are interrupting the switching voltage from the PCM by drawing more/less than perimeters are programmed for. And, should any of those wires ever chafe or ground you'll be buying a PCM.

Use the Lug on the switched side of the solenoid and a 12VDC LED and you should be fine.
