new member, new truck, new HELP!!
Well, in about a week I will be hauling home my newly acquired 1948 F-1. It was a woods find but a southern truck in pretty good shape. I have zero experience on these but I have always wanted one. I've done a '66 Fairlane, a '69 mach 1, '67 Mustang Coupe, a '48 Ford Coupe and a '32 roadster. Still have the '48 coupe and the '32.
Once I dig into this thing I will be coming here for help and posting some progress pics. Plan is fairly simple, hot rod truck, low and classic/vintage with a flathead and some upgrades.
Anyone in NC got a right front fender? It's got one of those holes in it
Thanks in advance for all those that will offer advice... good or bad!

Welcome Brando!
Sounds like this isn't your first rodeo. As for the fender search, you would be better off repairing the ones you have. Short of importing a dry climate version from the Southwest, nearly all will have rust in the same places as your beauty. If you are capable of repairing the cab corners, you can handle the fenders. A replacement grille can be found with some searching.
Enjoy the ride.

Hi Brando and welcome! I am just down the road from you in Durham. There are a few of us around the area. The F1, unlike the Mid Fifty F100 (53-56) has a scarcity of patch panels and almost no repro sheet metal (rear fenders are available at ~650.00 each) available, so I'm afraid you will need to learn metal fab/rust repair/body work and be in for many hours of work, or have pretty deep pockets. I am about to start teaching another member from Raleigh the basics of doing the same on his recently acquired F1.
First things first tho, do you have a transferable title for your truck that matches the serial # stamped into the frame? If yes, immediately transfer it into your name. If no, immediately find the number then contact the main DMV office in Raleigh and find out just what you need to do to get one before you invest a minute of time or spend a dollar on it. NC is getting tougher by the day about titling these old vehicles.
Meanwhile give Classic Haulers www.classic-haulers.com a call and ask them to send you one of their free catalogs, they specialize in the 48-52 and the gals there are really good, knowledgeable people to deal with.

I appreciate any advice once I dig into it. The only thing on it that's actually kind of crappy is that right front fender. You can throw a football through it. I have some body connections that are far better than me so I am going to check with them on it. The other "rough" work I am capable of, just need to learn where to cut and not cut! I'll get back to that too when it get's going.
Thanks!!!
