you know i thought i was responding to appoclypse! hahah! i didnt even realize you posted that! i was trying to egg him on to come up. seen soo many come and leave, its crazy.

People come to ALaska thinking this and that, and its nothing what they thought, i see them hightail it outa here all the time, the first year they usually got all these huge life long Alaska plans, then the first winter hits that last 8 months and they are thinking otherwise! its quite comical.

High prices, Long winters, cramped living, and Isolation. its quite the mental task to live here for most people. It takes either a really strong mind to endure and embrace, or a really weak one and lotsa dumb luck to not know any better to survive here.

All of that is true, but we spent four years stationed in the Anchorage area, and we are now doing just about anything we can to get back up there. First place we have ever been that felt like home, and we miss it.

I'm not one of THOSE Texans, but I am damn proud of where I come from. Between Apoc and I I'm pretty sure we can come up with enough reasons to legitimately decimate any other state. But I won't. Because I'm not like that.

I should also not post on forums after consuming many many many little bottles of liquid magic during a long flight to a place I hate.

Wait, I'm confused now... are you offering up your X again? I'll buy the ticket tonight if I can have your X. Hell, I'll come stay up there for 2 years and keep you company. I'll give you rides in to and from places until we can get you an Explorer or something.

My wife's grandparents moved to Alaska from Iowa in the 60s I think it was just before the big quake. They did ok running Mail routes, milk and other goods routes, then got into fishing. After getting into fishing they moved back to Iowa and farmed in the fishing off-season and went back north to fish, that ended up being their pot of gold literally.

I have a few people coming to look at my X this week so hopefully it will be gone and the money will be in the bank by the end of the week. There is a good chance the Blazer will be traded off tomorrow as well for an EB Bronco Anyway, I found this while screwing around this morning: 2004 Ford Excursion Eddie Bauer 6.0L 4x4

Might have to go take a look once my X sells!

Point? Mine has 230k and anyone that's been in it will tell you you'd be hard pressed to find the mileage. Mileage isn't always an indication of condition.

Ok, I found a place about an hour from me that has a few trucks with all the different motors... I had foot surgery last week so I'm not supposed to drive but I'm close to being back. Wife says we can go and I can test drive a few and I can get a feel for them and see what I think. Any thoughts on what I should be looking for on each one? Something I should be comparing on each one versus the other? Off hand it looks like they have a 6.0 and a V-10. You know which one I want but I would still like to see the difference. Is the 97 diesel worth looking at or is the motor not going to be the same model year in that?

HD Trucks (diesel and gas, Ford Chev Dodge)

Apoc, it looks more likely that we will be camping at Dixie Caverns Campground in Salem VA this weekend, I'll let you know when it's confirmed.
Go test drive a stock V-10 (and 7.3 & 6.0) and then hopefully mine will be around your area this weekend for you take a spin in for a comparison. I feel there is a pretty big difference in how mine used to run stock and how it does now with the gears, headers and tuner and I'd like to hear your opinion on it.
