non-slip mat for bed to keep cooler in place?

I have tonnaeu cover on the way (extang trifecta). The bed is also line-x lined. The problem is my cooler or whatever I put in the bed slides and slams everywhere. Will a rubber mat fix that, or should I stick to cargo straps? Maybe some kind of marine carpet that I cut to shape?

Stick with straps. If not, when you make a sharp turn or sudden stop, the cooler will probably just tip over.

Straps would work best. Carpet doesn't really work because of the slick backing. A rubber welcome mat would work too.

I just use a small piece of rope or mule tape tied off to the corner tie downs in my bed. Then whatever I don't want sliding or rolling around gets tied to the corner tie down. If your cooler has handles, just tie off one end of rope, loop through one cooler handle, and back to tiedown for second tie off.

Simple and easy.

I use rachet strap seems to work best or front seat is great too
And the wife in the back. That's my favorite.

I have a gen-u-wine FORD rubber bed mat. It works great for things not sliding around as well as protecting the bed. A less expensive aftermarket would do just as well, just be sure is 1/4" or so to ensure it won't blow out when bed is empty.
It is fairly heavy and a bit of a hassle to take out and put in when washing out the bed, but usually do that only after deer season.

It will be here soon and I can't wait . I ran over one with my sd a few months ago. Doing 45, hit it with the passengers side of the front bumper and ran over it. Didn't leave a scratch or dent anywhere. My sister hit one in her mariner a few days ago doing 55 and ripped the bumper, grille, fender, fog light and washer fluid jug off of it. Looking forward to getting one the normal way.

I'd do a rubber mat. I have and have always had them. As pointed out if you drive like a nut stuff can still move. But if you drive normal most stuff won't go anywhere. I've got the rubber mat on top of a spray in liner and feel its the best of both worlds.

Also as mentioned earlier, the one bad thing is that it's an unruly SOB to handle by yourself.

You could use the built in slots in the bed. Cut a 2x6 to length across the box drop it in and BAM! Everything stays back. You can also run a piece towards. Or two towards the gate and make compartments. It will cost under ten bucks and can easily be lifted out if you need the full length of the bed.

I have been using the same rubber matt since 1988, has been in 6 new trucks. The heavier the object the better it stays in place. Getting the mat in or out is not that big of a deal. I just roll it up and lift out. To put it back in, roll it up, set on tailgate, unroll, done

I use a cargo bar, or sometimes 2.

I use a rubber mat (even though I have a tonneau and my bed is rhino lined) and it works great to keep things from moving under normal highway use....
