Broke rim

I had a rim break on my f-350 inside rear rim. its a steel rim not alloy. cant figure out why it was in 3 pieces. I have drove f-350,s for 35 yrs . never had a rim break in 3 pieces. Its got me curious, to know why. I know i didnt hit nothing hard in the highway. I replaced it and ive drove it a few days and its normal. Anyone have any Ideas why it broke.and the breaks are clean brocken , not jagged!
thanks ,Terry.

Stuff happens. I've broke a few on big trucks and there was never a rhyme or reason why. Some used to say that running an alloy on the outside and a steel on the inside was to blame, but it never seemed to make a difference that I saw. Don't sweat it. If it happens again soon THEN get concerned.
