Help, I need suggestions

This morning I refueled the truck. Then I started the engine and it started to run rough. The engine began to make quite a bit of noise and the check engine light came n. I shut it off immediately. After a few minutes I checked the oil level and it was down almost a quart. What type of scanner do I need to use. What should I check first.

AE with the ford bundle, scan gauge, snap on (red brick??). I think there are a couple others but I don't remember. Be nice to see the code, but I'd check the valve cover harnesses first.

^^Agreed. Sounds like a VC Harness is melted.

It was diesel that you filled up with, right? I just have to ask. It wouldn't be the first time a station mistakenly filled their diesel tank with gasoline (or a distracted truck owner did).

A quart low doesn't matter.

also make sure you filled it with diesel, normally takes about 300 feet of driving on unleaded before they get bad and normally die depending on how much unleaded was put in.

rough running

I fueled the truck from my own supply. I have a hand pump that I add the fuel to the truck with. I tried my OBD scanner and it did not work. I need to borrow one to see if it is the code. It could not have failed when it was warm could it?
