Question weight

I'm not sure but I think the E-250, like mine, is in-between, and I think Ford considers the GVWR the determining factor.

There is a GVWR point, and over that its SuperDuty.

I think that rating is 8000 pounds but by all means, if someone else knows for sure, please chime in.

The E250 has a GVWR of 8,600# in stock configuration, E350 is 9,600# IIRC.

I don't know that the super duty designation was all that meaningful because those so named have the same GVWR specs, at least as far as I've noticed. Like TX2 says though I could be incorrect in this.

Question partially super?

On the back of my van on the emblem it clearly says E-250 SuperDuty....but whenever I look at parts online for the E-250 it is never listed as Super Duty. Likewise, the reprinted window sticker does not say SuperDuty anywhere.

So...I guess its a Semi-SuperDuty?

Yeah Ford seemed more intent applying emblems without anything of substance being identified by that.

Kinda like that old SNL skit where Dan Ackroyd says, mocking a well-known at the time advertisement for TV's "the parts go in before the name goes on...."

Sadly that 40 year old skit grows more factual each passing year.

I don't know guys.... There's got to be something for the Super Duty.

Mine's a Superduty and it has the tow package (with factory plugin for trailer brake controller, factory hitch, 8pin trailer plugin, and dual batteries). Maybe that's it.

What do you guys think?

I was thinking the original commercial was for a Motorola TV, before that august name became more of a joke than anything else......

For some reason that skit just stuck with me, I've used it numerous times to describe a lot of stuff including high-end computer room air conditioning systems I was part of building at the time.

I dunno----not been too much put forward so far to say there's anything substantial to the moniker---someone into trivia might know?

With vans, I'm not sure what the distinction really is and can't find anything on an Internet search (I cheat whenever possible). With pickups, Ford started broadly using the name for the 1999 pickups over 8500 GVW when the F250/350 got different body styling from the F150 (they had always been the same in the past):

I remember the old commercials a bit, but not nearly as well as JWA....

As my early education elders often reminded me I have a mind that retains everything NOT all that important, relevant or useful in life.........
