Here's some pics of my f150 300 frame mounts:
The only snafu I had was to order the econoline van mounts instead of ones for a truck. The wrong ones were too tall and pushed the engine up and a pain to shoehorn in. With the right mounts, engine drops right in easy peasy.

I don't have pictures. But I went through all this years ago. I had a 78 F250 4x4 with a 400. I wanted to swap in a 300. I found out the F150 4x4 towers were different. I bought 4 different pairs of towers before I got the right ones.
You basically answered your own question. You need a pair out of a 77 1/2-79 F250 4x4 with a 300. And they are not easy to find. Your other choice is the modify your 351M/400 towers or make your own.

These are 1978 F250 4wd motor perches for a 300 I6 .. I checked them against 1976 highboy 300 I6 perches and they are identical in shape and size the only difference is the part that bolts to the top of the rail is different but could be made to work .. The top holes are in different places .. I'll check against FE highboy perches tomorrow ..

The 300 was available on a '79. Why not use 300 mounts?

now the trick is finding them.

The highboy chassis at the motor perches inside to inside is 26" and is the same as the 77 1/2 - 79 f250 4wd chassis 26" .. The 300 six perches from the highboy chassis can be used in the 77 1/2 - 79 f250 4wd chassis because they are identical in every way except the flap that mounts to the top of the frame rail .. There you can use one of the holes on top but the other will have to be drilled when using the highboy 300 six perches in a 771/2 -79 F250 4wd frame .. I will be checking highboy FE perches later today against the 771/2 - 79 f250 4wd 300 I6 perches that I have to clear this up

I have a 76 F250 2wd that had a 360/c6, swapped to 300/c6 and perches do not work. I have read other threads, but have yet to find anyone doing this exact swap in a 2wd. Anyone that doesn't mind me jumping into an old thread have any insight?? I've got the tranny set up in its proper place, and have tried 2 different styles of mounts (different years/part numbers). Also entire motor/tranny seems to be a little too close to the radiator. Is the c6 longer than the c4?.. anyone have any info on that too? this is my first build and i am completely stumped, any/all help is greatly appreciated. thanks... MIKE
