I ended-up having to work yesterday...I'm just getting ready to get on this today. No clutch problems though.

PS the sound is a whine compared to a scream (ie wheel bearing, etc). Not a metal on metal sound.

Is the sound more pronounced as you are turning?

UPDATE: It turns out it is/was the throw out bearing. The whine stopped just before the clutch went. Does an 85' F150 take the 10" clutch?

Also, the PS pump was making some noise too (couldn't hear it over the bearing whine)...topped off w/a bit of ATF and all is good there.

My son's 1984 F150 and my 1986 F150 came from the factory with flywheels drilled for either the 10" or 11" clutch. Both came with 10" but were upgraded to 11" when clutch replacement was done.

The 11" clutch kit was ~$25 more... the bolt size is different.

Yeah, that different bolt size kinda throws things off. As I'm pressed for time, I'm prob. gonna have to go w/the 10" :/
