H4 headlight upgrade problems
Hey, folks
Trying to do a headlight upgrade with a relay harness I got from Amazon. That may be the first problem, but it was "redesigned" with more robust relays, blah blah blah....
Anyway, my headlight switch is working fine. I unplugged the new harness, plugged in one of the old bulbs, works fine. Plug in the harness, nothing. I've checked my wiring - orange plug goes to old headlight plug, blue plugs go to the new lights, red to battery + side, and black to ground. Cleaned the ground area with a wire brush, no paint, rust or dirt there. Inline fuse not blown. All electrical connections cleaned with DeOxit. Relays (one is 4 pin, one is 5) are in their correct places.
All I can figure is that the relays are bad. I hear no click when turning on lights. Marker lights and clearance lights work fine. New bulbs tested and working plugged into old plug.
Tomorrow I plan to hook the black to the negative battery post just to eliminate a bad ground problem.
Am I leaving anything out? I sometimes don't see what's right in front of me...any help is greatly appreciated! Thanks!
