C6 lokar shifter

Trying to install lokar c6 shifter and lokar kickdown cable. I'm not sure how to remove factory shifter. Cut it off? Instructions aren't very clear. Anyone have any experience with this kit?

I just cut mine off. I've yet to drive mine, so I've kept the part just in case I need to weld it back on!

Not at the moment! Just use your common sense. If you offer up your new billet Lokar shift lever, you'll see where it needs to be cut. Just use your noodle with regards to heat and swarf/grindings with regard to the seals that are in there.

I figured it out and I was able to leave old shifter on. I'm posting these pics for anyone in the future who might need some pics.

I'm glad it worked out. Mine is a column shift from an Ididit column, using a rod connection. This meant that the new shifter lever had to be at the 8 O'clock position when in park, which directly conflicted with the original shift lever.
Thanks for sharing the photos. I wasn't being obtuse when I said I couldn't get a photo, I'm away from the truck for a few days!

Mine was already on the trans when I got the truck. Looks like it was removed. Maybe it needs a puller to remove it?
Is your shifter a cable or linkage?

Here's a pic of mine:

It is how the mounting plate is attached to the trans. Sort of like this one:

Finally buttoned up the shifter last night, after installed threaded rod, the shifter is very difficult to shift through the gears. Feels like it is binding on something.... I couldn't find anything though. I disconnected threaded rod, and it shifted easily. Not sure what's going on

I had a similar problem with mine. The rod was too short on it when I got it.

I had to move the shifter back on the mount plate and make a longer rod. The PO had it mounted too far forward.

The position of the shift lever is important too.

Is the rod very tight when installed? It should have some play in it.

What rod are you referring too? The threaded rod connecting shifter to tranny shift lever?

Yes, this is what I started with, You can see how short the rod was and how far forward the shifter was mounted. It was causing it to bind.

I moved the shifter back on the plate and made a longer rod. Lokar says the rod does not need to be bent... but I made a bend in it anyway. Seemed like the thing to do at the time; but it really didn't need it. I didnt have the threaded rod so I made it out of solid rod and tapped the ends.

My shifter lever is further forward than yours also. Yours looks like 2:00 to me. Can you bring it to 1:00 or is the old lever in the way?
