Not a concrete - quickset is a powder that you mix to your own consistency for mudding sheetrock. Comes in various hardening times (20 minutes, 30 minutes 45 minutes). If you are really good you work with 20 minute stuff - hardens up really fast so you have to be quick. I use the 30 minute stuff and just don't mix up too much at one time.

I mix it thinner than the joint compound you get in a bucket pre-mixed. It goes on a lot smoother, dries much much faster. You can do 2 or 3 coats in a day so you can get a lot more work done. The pro's can do an entire room start to final finish in one day with this stuff.

Has various brand names but most lumber yards will know what you mean when you ask for quickset 30 or 40.

Oh, okay. I've never heard of that. I know the bucket stuff can be a pain in the butt, I've used plenty of that. I'll have to try that the next time I do any mudding (hopefully never!!).

I know what you mean Jim. Wish I could enjoy a nice tall frosty adult type beverage right now.

Pretty likely - probably 220+/- years old. All post and beam in the original cape - no nails except for hand cut ones. All the beams and joists and rafters are hand hewn and notched and pegged with wooden pegs.

Ken might be old but probably not quite that old.
