I thought I was going to have to take today off. My daughter doesn't have school today, and our sitter had to back out at the last minute, from a death in the family. But, one of my daughters friend's mom told her she could stay at there house today.

At least that ended up working out, circumstances being what they are. Certainly understandable that the sitter had to back out given the reason.

Starting to get parts in for my SD spring swap for the tOwBS. Just ordered my reverse shackle kit...now I need to round up B code rear springs and the traction blocks and it should be party time. My U code front springs are sitting in North Jersey.

So, you're getting rear springs out of a later model SD?

Yup. It's a popular swap to do away with the OBS leaf springs and go to SD springs because they ride a bit softer. Plus, this will give me about 3" or so of lift, allowing me to run a slightly taller/wider tire.

I got all excited last night thinking I could put on my 33x12.5's I used to run on the Bull, but they're not load rated high enough - I need at least D's and the tires I have are C's. So...off to Craigslist with them to get a few bucks.

Hmm, never heard of that swap. Good idea, though.

Yeah, the OBS guys talk about it a lot. In fact, the reverse shackle kit I'm buying is specifically for the SD swap. Sky Manufacturing in Oregon is where I'm getting it from. In fact the traction blocks are coming from One Up Offroad out there as well, through Riffraff Diesel.

Hi Bill. Hi Pat. Come on, maybe some day he'll do it and record it. You know that will make your day.

Those are good guys over at Sky. A customer by us just purchased their shackle kit and we gave them V codes. The thing turned out great. Nice amount of lift right off the bat

Yeah the Sky kit came pretty highly recommended by a couple of folks. Precision Metal Fab has a nice setup too, but in this case I'll be saving about $70 going with Sky.

The U codes are laying in Jersey. Can always go to V's if I don't like them easily enough.
