Ford Dealer screwed up gas Mileage!
Hey all,
04 F150 screw, 5.4 triton 155k
Took it into dealer for rear axle seal and plugs. They also did fuel filter and muffler.
Plugs were changed once before so it was not a nightmare.
I get the truck back and the dealer tells me not to use e brake cause it now sticks. They worked when I brought it in... But the real issue is my gas mileage. I tow a 20 ft boat. around 3200lbs loaded!
I drove 142 miles and burned 3/4 of a tank. My last quarter tank got me 65 miles. I used to get 15 easy and around 11 towing. Now i am getting just about 7mpg.. what the heck did they do to my truck???
Called the dealer and he said he has no idea but to bring it back in. Should I be concerned that they are going to rake me over the coals?
I used to do the repairs myself but can no longer do it... Long story...
Thanks for any advice or help

They said they checked for that since it was sticking and re-set it. Told me not to use it until the cable is fixed. (Hog Wash) they don't read their own TSB's at the dealer. If no one has any other ideas, I will report back after Thursday and tell you what they say. My guess is that they will probably try to sell me a new truck.

Sounds like a brake dragging to me, I would think you or the computer would have noticed a miss if they crossed the plug wires.
How do they get away with letting a vehicle go with faulty brakes? I never worked at a dealer; but have worked at a few garages, and the one thing we wouldn't let out of the driveway was a bad brake job.
