F250 Springs on F-150?

Hi everyone. I am beginning to gather everything I need to build my 89' F-150 2wd. But I am running into a snag. I want to level the truck out, (I know that can affect how it handles when fully loaded, but I will only have it fully loaded occasionally). I cannot find a leveling kit anywhere for the 2WD model....everything I see is for the 4wd version. I have read that I can replace the Stock F150 front coil Springs with F250 Springs, Will this work? And what year F250? I converted a 1984 F250 2WD to a 4WD by using a 1986 F250 4WD as my parts truck... so I know that the 84 and 86 F250s used front leaf springs. Looking a bit on the internet I see Front Coils for the F250 (97-04) will these work? Any advice would be appreciated.

OBS 2wd F-250's had coil springs up front. Or at least my 94 did.

Thanks for the information!

Thanks guys. I just found a pair of 1.5" leveling Springs for a 95' F250 for $75, so I think I'll check them out. The seller says they were only used for a year so they should be nearly new. With the increased height will I need new shocks? Just trying to think ahead....

I just installed 824's on my truck on Sunday. I went with the 824's because I didn't want a stiffer ride. Being that my truck has the 5.8L w/AC, supercab and 4wd, it's probably the heaviest second to that configuration with a long bed. You can see in the pics below the new and old springs, there's over an inch of difference and the lower pic shows the truck level. I got the springs new through Jegs for $67.99 to my door. I would offer the guy $50 for his used F250 Springs.

Not a 100% on this but I do believe I used F250 springs on the front of my 94 f150 4x4 and it still sits lower then the rear. By about 2 inches or so. I do know I opted for F250 springs in the rear and was told they have same part number as the F150 minus the helper springs, which I have not added........ I would think you should be able to get a new coil spring X amount of inches taller vs a coil spacer, however any lift to the suspension in the front will require camber/caster adjustments which will require adjustment sleeves for the upper ball joint.

Then again it could be possible that I went with the F150 coil springs for comfort, I guess best thing would be call your local parts store and ask if its the same part number. Should be able to give them your truck and then the equivalent in a f250.

http://www.moogproblemsolver.com/moo...rings_Spec.pdf

The link is a PDF of all the available Moog springs. I used CC844 on my 4x4 supercab 5.8/auto and measured 1.25" rise up front. Not sure what to use on a 2x4, I suppose figure out the stock equivalent of a Moog, then add some length and/or spring rate (keeping other specs the same) and find the new part # in the above catalog. I bought my CC844's on Amazon with Prime, and it cost around $65 shipped for NEW springs. The guy with used ones for $75 is a bit off...

Springs...now Shocks?

OK, I was able to get the springs down to $60 so that worked out, I picked them up today and they look like new springs. Talking with the owner, he bought them to raise his F250 1.5 inches, I didn't ask him what size engine he had but am assuming a V-8 of one size or the other...So Springs lifting that weight an w/extra 1.5" should do a good job on a 300 I6... (Fingers crossed) I am thinking that since I am using not only F250 Springs, but a 1.5 lift-F250 Spring....I may need to put larger shocks. Any ideas? I am redoing the truck from the ground up so I plan to replace all the shocks anyways, just figured I will make the upgrade at the same time if needed.

Not knowing what the springs are, it's hard to say at all what you might need. Do us a favor and measure 2 things on the springs.

1. The overall height of the freestanding spring. If it's about 16 1/4" it's probably a Moog 822. If it's about 16 3/4" to 17" then it's most likely a Moog 824. If it's close to 13" then it's probably a Moog 844.

2. Measure the diameter of the bar used to create the spring. 844's will be a little more than 3/4" and the 818-824's will be slightly under.

Based on that information, you might be able to make an educated guess on how they will lift the truck and ride.

I just measured the Springs from end to end.... 20 3/4" and the diameter is (Measuring around the circumference of the bar itself) is 2 3/4", the actual measurement og the thickness of the bar itself (side to side) is just under 3/4". They look like they were/are silver.
