I would have to agree. I have driven both pulling 16-18(depends on who is loading) round bales with a 25000lb gooseneck trailer on the same hilly route, many times. Both engines pull the loads well, but the 6.2 does it at a higher rpm than the 3V 6.8. Both are great engines, I just wonder how long(mileage/longevity) the 6.2 would last working at those rpm's. The 6.8 revs are usually about 1000-1500 less pulling the load than the 6.2.
I would take either, but would prefer the 6.8. It gets the load moving quicker and seems to do it easier. Just my 2 cents.

Not going to take away from the V10, but the 6.2L was designed for high RPMs from the start. I see no reason to believe it can't achieve very high mileage. What would fail from running at higher RPMs? It has roller rockers, piston cooler oil jets, low compression, reasonably large oil sump capacity, iron block, etc. The Modular engines (V10 included) were always designed for making torque at lower RPM, but at the expense of top-end horsepower (typical long-stroke engine).

I just replaced my 2008 v10 with a 15' Diesel. The V10 was a great motor, towed well didn't have a single problem with it in 81,000 miles. However, the 15 diesel blows the doors off it. Very impressed with Ford's latest technology.
With that said, the 6.4 is known for having lots of problems, I would go for the 6.2 gasser in a heartbeat given the choices you posted.
