OxyHydrogen welding has been used for aluminum because the clear flame allows a better view of the puddle.
But "Browns gas" has an autoignition temperature of only 1065*F and aluminum melts at 1221*F.
At stoichiometric ratio it will burn at approximate 5K (f) but acetylene gas is far less expensive to produce and store and also creates a hotter flame.

About the only practical application is in jewlery making where the torch and object is tiny, and enough gas can be produced by electrolysis to complete the work.
