Why would brand new boots on the hot side have a dusting of and oil residue on them? Looks like the old boots looked before I replaced them nothing else in the engine compartment is getting dusted.

 

Your CCV is still routed through your intake. That's going to leave you with oil residue and dirt is going to stick to it.

 

Yeah I didn't think it would seep through new boots though that's the only reason I asked

 

If the oil is seeping thru the new tube material then they are defective. OEM boots don't even do that.

 

How many trucks with OEM boots have you had? I've had 9 or 10 of these now and every one of them has had oil seepage. Oil is a funny liquid, it goes all kinds of places and through the smallest of passages. Not to mention, it can some from all sorts of places.

 

The boots on my 05 have been changed three times. They've never leaked thru the material till at least 2 to 4 years old.

He said just watch the boost and the boots if it continues to have a problem he will take care of it. He also had and extremely fast response to my email, Thanks for the info from everyone.

 

That might be true if we don't apply a basic knowledge of physics and that oil molecules are much smaller than air molecules and are able to be forced through the boot overtime.

I have run many different boots over the years, and the riffraff diesel ones are the best hold I have seen. Running over 60psi on the 6.4L without any issues for years now.

 

Your saying that the new CAC boots from RIFFRAFF are letting a small amount of oil leak thru to the outside? And you made a phone call to them, and they said to close the thread.. Why? Because they are sending you a replacement to correct a deficient product? My stock boots are pretty old, no issues and no oil leaking thru AND I was considering buying these boots because they looked pretty cool and have received good reviews. Now I'm not so sure.... they want you to close the thread so nobody see's it. If anything they would want it known that they handled a customer complaint fast and efficient.

Now I'm interested to hear the whole story.

 

I have the same thing happening. They are about 1.5 years old and i started noticing it about 8 months from new. I figured it was normal to have the oily residue.

 

I got my HOT SIDE boots 2 months ago but I'm still waiting on the COLD SIDE still out of stock.

 

Did I say that anyone from riffraff told me to close the thread? Nope I said close the thread because it was a dead issue. Clay responded back to me in 10 min or so. If you read the post above. He told me that it's not an issue and it's known to happen in higher boost systems. He also said If I feel it is an issue or their are any problems to let him know and he will take care if it. So once again riffraff has stayed true with great customer service just like everytime I deal with them
