Transmission Problem, Delay in Engaging Drive

Howdy all, been a while since I was able to post, good to be back.

Have been out camping for the last 3 weeks, and had this happen twice, shifting from reverse to drive, there is a 5 second or so delay before the transmission engages. Everything runs perfect otherwise with the transmission. My last flush was 50k miles ago, so I am coming do for another flush(I did the full Mark K. flush when i got the truck, as well as 50k ago). I just joined the 200k club on the truck on my way back.

All that said, any ideas on what to do next. i was going to go ahead and do the flush again this weekend, anything I should look at, tighten up, replace that might be causing this? Or am I do for a tranny rebuild/replace?

thanks much, Tom

Check the two bolts that attach the shift cable to the bracket on the bottom of the steering column. You might also remove the valve body and see if the feed bolts have loosened.

Thanks

Thanks Mark, I will check both. I did put green Loctite on the bolts under the column a few years ago to try and prevent them from losening, but that doesn't mean they didn't back out again.

Torque spec

Finally started this project last night. The bolts under the column are tight, so I started the fluid project last night, pan off, and it is draining/dripping for the day while I work.

Question is, what should be the torque setting for the feed bolts, as well as the valve body when I reinstall those items?

Thanks much, Tom

Feed Bolts= 12 ft-lbs
Valve Body Bolts= 100 in-lbs
Here is also a picture of where the check ***** go. If you lower the separator plate carefully, they will stay in there respective holes on the plate. Also, there are 2 VB bolts that attach the Lower VB to the Main VB. The rest go through into the Case. Leave those attached and lower the 2 VB's together as a unit.
