My new to me 07 F250

I'm off to NY early tomorrow morning to retrieve my 2007 F250 with the 5.4l 3V.........I'm going to take comfort in the fact that this site sees very little daily chatter about the problems these engines can have. I'll be home late Monday nite with an update on my latest blind purchase. Hopefully all news will be of the good variety.......

Lol, I'm back home tonight 630 miles across four states and all went well. Too soon to tell but the truck ran very well and everything seemed as it should, A lot of 75 to 80 mph driving and 13.84 mpg hand calculated so I believe it was running on all 8 cylinders.

Glad to here you got home safely.

I would change the oil with 0W20 dexos1 certified engine oil and a Motorcraft filter and monitor it while enjoying.

Thanks, I intend to change all of the fluids before I start using the truck but I was relieved that it did run and drive as well as it does, at least I believe I have a sound platform to build on.

You need 5W-20 in there or else it messes up the variable camshaft timing of the engine.

That's what I have been told, Is a 5W-20 synthetic like Mobile1 ok for year around use? I live in Maine where the temps never break 100* for highs but can go to 40* below for lows.

I just go to the dealer and get a Ford filter and Ford oil. Yes you can use synthetic off brands but I always buy OEM filters so I may as well buy OEM oil too while I'm there.

Although I will be using Motorcraft filters I would hardly cal Mobil1 an 'off brand' synthetic and I can get both the Motorcraft filters and the Mobil1 at my local Walmart.

By "off-brand" I mean not Ford. I can only buy Motorcraft filters at my dealer.

FWIW, Motorcraft filters are made by Purolator. They take the premium element from their top line filters and put it into the cheap case for the bargin filters... but I buy Motocraft filters too because I like the way they look
