odd intermittent shift and start problems
Hi guys
I decided to downsize from my 01 f250 to an 05 f150 thought I hit the jackpot beautiful shape and only 47000 miles on it. Anyway every once ina while like once a month when I try to start it it will grind like the bendix isn't engaging. Replaced the starter two weeks ago and it has done it a few times since. Never for the mechanic though of course. Any thoughts?? Now for the more concerning issue. Periodically when leaving a stop sign at a moderate pace (won't do it if I accelerate hard) and turning right it will act kind of like the transmission is slipping and then slam into second. Sometimes it's a quick clunk then it slams other times it feels kind of like when a tire breaks loose you can hear and feel the power from the engine but it feels like something is holding the truck back. And then it slams into second. The mechanic thought possibly 4wd wind up and suggested replacing the transfer case fluid. It hasn't helped. So its a 2005 f150 5.4l auto trans xlt 4 wheel drive with the switch on the dash. If any one has run into this I would really appreciate the input. Thanks
