Question for People with Grill guards on their 87-91s

I recently purchased a chrome 87-91 Westin Grill Guard. Little did I know it was missing some bottom brackets that clamp to the bumper. I'm asking the PO if they by chance have them, but otherwise I will make some. I was wondering if those with similar grill guards or the same guard could post a picture of the lower bumper brackets? attached a pic of the guard.

My dad has one he took off his 89. Problem is he's in TX right now and guard and truck are in WI. I'll update but it could be a while.

I had one on a donor truck so just took a look, unfortunately there were no lower brackets, a hole had been drilled and a bolt inserted. The bottoms of mine do have a flange though, so a simple 'J' shaped bracket could be made to work.

the top brackets clip around the bumper edge and then bolt to the guard. so the bottom would probably be similar. Thank you. And SteelHorse4x4,don't worry about it, thanks though.

Understand that bolting that to your bumper does not make for a strong grille guard. The bumper isn't tough, and putting a long lever like that on it makes it extra weak.

If you hit something, like we here in WI hit whitetail deer, on one side of the truck, its going to wipe out the other side too when the grille guard folds into it.

I understand that completely. One reason I got the guard is to mount driving lights on so I can see further and clearer to reduce the chance of that happening. Deer aren't bad where I'm at, but I've focused more on improving visibility, already added a headlight relay harness and better bulbs. If I end up hitting a deer, its gonna do a good bit a damage anyway you look at it, unless theres a heavy front bumper or grill guard bolted to the frame. just looking for a way to mount lights.

Where are you mounting lights onto that? Are you going to cut the center bars out?

I'll have to see, the bigger bars are 1.5" and the smaller ones are 1", conduit hangers or split ring hangers will work as cheap light mounts. I have fogs below the bumper that work good, just want something to add to the headlights.

conduit hanger B-LINE by Eaton Conduit Clamp,Screw On,1 In,Steel - Conduit and Cable Hangers - 4RHZ5|BL1420 - Grainger Industrial Supply

split ring hanger
GRAINGER APPROVED VENDOR Split Ring Hanger,1 In,Malleable Iron - Pipe Hangers and Clamps - 22FP59|22FP59 - Grainger Industrial Supply

much cheaper than $20 light bar clamps off amazon.

UPDATE

made the brackets from 2" x 1/8" steel strap. used grade 8 1/2" fine thread zinc plated bolts. Just doing this as a reference pic if one finds themselves in a similar predicament.

driverside bracket. hangs lower than other bracket.

pass side bracket
