Here she is, dirty as heck, but seems like it will look decent with a bunch of cleaning, the odd stone chip repair, and new bumpers.

And theres the bus I bought and drove home to use for the swap.

1100 for the bus, and 2500 for the truck...
The bus had enough gas to get home, but the truck cost 950$ to ship.

So so far I'm in roughly 4500$, but I should get 500$ for the allison auto out of the bus, plus some scrap metal money from the bus. Plus, I have a bunch of 6.4 engine parts.

Heres something interesting about the f250 I bought, the crank is snapped, but it snapped off at the front, so the pulley/ harmonic balancer fell off. It did not snap inside the engine block, although it could have screwed up the front bearing and seal.....

I'm glad you think it's cool.
I sure do!

I think the dt360 is probably the most under-rated swap motor there is, they are way stronger than the cummins, and can be had cheap!

A few guys have done it already though- I'm not the first.

it probably wont take long for the dbags to take the cool away from it too. they are usually the ones with stacks in the back of pickup bed.

I wonder is there is a market for a used serviceable DPF, I know they are not cheap new.

You should be able to make good money parting out the 6.4. I have only seen one engine break in the manner you described, it was a small block Chevy. Dropped a new crank in it and it was fine.

So did you make a decision on the transmission? I was thinking about putting a dt360 in my 75 F250 Highboy, but the transmission is my biggest concern.

spicer 7 speed with overdrive i was hoping for.

If your not modding the motor for much more power, a much smaller trans would probably work fine.

What are you using your truck for?

It wouldn't see anything more heavy duty than hauling a bed full of gravel really. I am not really looking for crazy power, but something with torque that might net me some halfway decent mileage too.

Subscribed. I just picked up a DT360 for my 86 F250. I am using a ZF6. I am curious to see your mounts.

Here is another guy who swapped out a 6.4 for the 360
A slightly different DT360 Swap 2008 F450 - PowerStrokeNation : Ford Powerstroke Diesel Forum

Wish I could find $2500 6.4. I would buy them all day. Or an $1100 bus. I paid 1300 just for my engine

Just keep looking around, I waited almost a year before finding the deals on the f250 and bus.
If I parted the bus all out, the engine would be free.
If I parted the f250 engine and trans out, the truck would probably be free.

It's all the little headaches that are going to cost money.

And yeah I know what you mean, the dt360 isn't usually cheap, despite many guys saying you can get one for 500$.
The cheapest I found was 3500$ running, and unknown mileage.
The bus has a bonus of being able to steal a bunch of parts, maybe even a transmission if you find the right bus.

Does anyone know how hard it is to swap body panels on an 08 truck to the newer 2011+ body?

Reason I ask, is that this truck I got needs some body work and paint, and I found a brand new unused box for 1500$ that would eliminate a lot of work. Bad news, the flare style is different from 08.

So I would need to swap the whole 08 front and hood to 2011+ style. Is it possible? How hard?

I have found several write ups about guys going from 1999-2007 to 2011 style, but not 2008-2010 to 2011+ style.

Just wondering what it would take.
