Is an F 140 a rare pickup?

I purchase my 1979 F 150 Shortbox about 4 years ago. I was told by the seller according to the VIN # it is an F 140. What can anyone tell me about my truck.

No, not rare at all. F140 is the model designation for an F150 4WD. The VIN will start with F14.

Yeah, unless you find an unclaimed lottery ticket in the glove box.

You are correct in the F140 in the vin designating a Ford 150 BUT the F140 will be in 5th, 6th, and 7th positions of the VIN.

The first three units of Ford's VINs are The World Manufacturer Identification code, (What country it was built in)

My 1984 Ford F-150 4x4 has the F14 in the 5th, 6th, and 7th place of the VIN where the Ford Company says it should be.

Yeah, it was 1980 when Ford went to the new VIN system, that's also when they started mounting a VIN plate on the dash at the base of the windshield.
