2007 5.4L block compatibility

Not sure if i should post this here or in the Expedition forums, but here goes.

I'm trying to find out if I can use the block from an '04 Expedition (5.4 engine code 'L') in an '07 F-150. The problem is the '04 has a 2 valve head and the '07 is a 3 valve.

The Ford dealer told me to call the junkyard, the junkyard told me to call the dealer. Tried Ford Customer Service and they didnt know. Called a couple of parts stores and the best suggestion I got was tear it down and see...

Anyone able to offer insight?

The short blocks will interchange just as long as both has the same pistons. The 3v has flat top pistons and I think the 2v does too just not 100% sure.
