Looks like a homemade job to me, not a factory bumper, so painting it red to match the body wouldn't be unreasonable. I'd have personally gone with black, but I wasn't even around then, and it's not my truck!

 

Yes but I think its a aftermarket one so they painted it red? Looks to have white rims so does that make it a 56? I cant tell

 

Could be a 55, they had white rims also. Nice picture of a time gone by... people out shopping in the downtown....
