67 F250 fuel and ignition

Hey everyone, new here but not new to ford trucks...lol. I've got a 67/69 F250 4X4 Hiboy with a 352 motor. I'm wanting to put an electronic fuel pump and electronic ignition on it. I'm just wondering what everyone thought the best products to do this were. Thanks, R.Lowe.

As soon as I can figure out why I cant upload pics i'll get some posted.

Can't go wrong with a pertronix ignition it's a good upgrade over the points. And a small Holley, walbro, napa or other electronic fuel pump are some of the few name brands that been floating around on the forums lately. Just remember with a pretty stock carb engine you don't need a huge pump and you definitely want to run a regulator and gauge with any electric pump.

Hey crazed, Thanks for the info., the pertronix is pretty much what everyone say's to go with. The fuel [ump has had me wondering because the prices are all over the place. Lol. I know I don't need a high performance or anything but I hav to make sure of suction pressure because I'm using the tank behind the seat and the tube for it comes up and then down in thru the top of the tank. Thanks for the info on the pics too!

What's wrong with your factory mechanical pump?

A guy just used a plain jane fuel pump from napa with his behind the seat tank recently on the forum. Seemed to work out fine with his truck so you should be fine. Whatever pump you go with I'd look at flow and suction over pressure ratings since you'll want to be around the 5psi range.

I'm running a stock mechanical pump on mine, as is almost everyone here. No problems at all, and more reliable.

36 yrs. running a stock pump for behind the seat tank never a problem.

All my other Fords 1 65 mustang, 2 78 4x4, 1 79 4x4, 1 46 truck, 1 89 4x4, 1 96 4x4 with mech. and I never had a problem. I replaced the tank, new filter, and am going to replace the fuel lines one afternoon this week. I only have trouble going up hills and its like the carb sucks all the fuel out vapor locks I guess cause I can get out and pull a section of rubber line off drain a little and get back in and start it up. Am going to see what opinions were on elec. fuel pumps and elec. ignition. I'm going to restore pretty much back to original but it's going to be a semi regular driver, so i'm going to add a few luxuries. Thanks for all the help. R.Lowe

I've seen on this site where a guy had found that the long tank pick up tube rusted holes in it about mid way up that caused him run out of gas as it would suck air below it.

Also the rubber flex line crack connecting the hard lines just below the tank sucking air..

for vapor lock I always get some 3/8" fuel hose. CAREFULLY slit it down the side. Then wrap it around the fuel pump to carb line. There-by insulating the radiator's heat away from the gas that's in it.

Hey guys thanks for the help. After replacing the fuel tank with a used one and then replacing it again with a new one, new fuel line, and a new mechanical fuel pump my fuel problems seem to be over. Now she's just a little cranky starting up on these cold mornings, lol, but I can be too.
