2008 F350 Engine Problem

My 6.4 diesel will lose partial power while driving down the road. However, if I turn the motor off then back on the power will be back to normal. Any ideas why it is doing this?

I'd start with sensors in the DPF/exhaust. Any modifications?

Engine Problems

The exhaust filter has been removed. The original owner replaced with a straight pipe located about halfway down exhaust system.

Bet the truck has the ford programming back in it. The previous owner took the tuner with him and left you a mess.

It is going into limp mode because of that...and dumping fuel too.

How is the fuel economy?

If you bought this at a dealer just recently I'd take it back and make them repair it and put the stuff back on it.

Yup. The dealer re flashed the PCM back to stock. Probably unknowing that the DPF is removed. They illegally sold you the truck because the emission equipment is removed. Liability falls back on the dealer 100%

Engine Problems

The previous owner put a chip in it and left me the box to program it. I did not check the settings but he told me he set it up for best fuel economy. I do not know what its suppose to get but it gets about 14 mpg and 7.5 towing a fifth wheel. I did not buy it from a dealer. It was a private sale.
