Anyone have an idea on the cost of a paint job on a 2001 Sport Track?? I would like a "cheapie" job. There are no dents nor dings. There is rust on the roof like someone had parked it under a tree. Current color is Black and would like to keep it that way.
I don't know that I will have the truck for more than three more years.
Thanks,
James

Probably the same scheisters running them both though----work is VERY similar!
Good gravy who else remembers Early yelling on TV, "I'll paint ANY car for $49.95!!!"
My dad had an early 50's Packard or Plymouth, one of those bathtub-looking things, this would have been in the later 50's I'm sure. Money was tight but somehow he scraped enough up to get the car painted---glossy black, looked very cool when he brought it back home--they painted it while he waited.
Not 30 minutes after he's home a huge rain storm pelts the new paint, almost like hail, bigass drops I'm tellin' ya. I thought it was kinda funny (a second grader at the time) Dad was bummed and stood in the rain watching little droplet crowns forming all over.
It looked like a piece of textured lace, the kind Grandma had on her dining room table. Cool stuff for the home, not so cool on the family car.
$49.95 was dear money in those days---kinda feel sorry for Dad now.

I had a Maaco job done on my Fiero -- one of their 'better' ones. $700 IIRC.
It's not terrible, and it's held up for a couple of years. There is a fair amount of overspray, which I should have bitched about when I picked it up, but it's not anywhere that shows.
Prior to going there, I checked with a private party, who said that he could do it for $2500. I'm sure that there's a night and day difference, but it's not worth it to me.
Car Craft (and maybe Hot Rod), had a feature about rattle can painting a car with Rustoleum. They thought it was cool, but then, they would. You might be able to find the article on carcraft.com
Good Luck,
