Headlights on 93 and 95 vans

Today at the junk yard, I found a 93 E150 van that had the old glass sealed beam head lights in it. I though these years only had the crappy yellowing plastic headlamps. A few rows down I found a 95 E250 with them too!

Was the sealed beam glass head lamps a option for these years? Or some one swapped them in.

I am seriously thinking about putting those sealed beams in my 95 E350 Bus as the plastic ones are again fogged up...

my 92 e150 has the sealed beams, assuming as stock. Pretty sure both were just options

Having '92 & '94 E350 cut-away's, both have seal beams

I think the up-scale trim package included the sweeping stream line headlights

Thought about the upgrade swap, until I seen all the plastic lens dis-colored after a couple of years, I'll stick to the standard H6054 seal beams, and getting them from "whole-seller close-outs" for around $5 each

I change them out every fall, which is now, to get ready for the long winter night drives, plus, this state, lights need to be on when using wipers, so the head light bulbs tend to get dull after a year on the road.

There have been more than a few threads about the composite aero-style H/L's---I'm still a fan of the glass sealed beam types. In fact if I found the perfect van with composite H/L's they'd be quickly swapped out for the sealed beams ASAP.

I work around nearly 600 big trucks almost daily and never every one of those 1-2 years old have seriously clouded or foggy looking H/L assemblies---talk about spendy for new ones.

The upside to E-Series from '92 through '08 or so is composite and sealed beams can be swapped one for the other without breaking the bank. For the most part grilles are the same, header panel too--its just the light assemblies that are different. Sealed beams do require trim bezels but their outside foot print is the same as the composite assemblies---look closely at them when you can compare.

I never knew there was a option on head lamps for these years of vans.

The only thing I need to get are the head lamp assemblies and they will bolt into my van?

May go back and get them as the plastic lens are clouding up after I polished them up about 8 months ago....

If you switch back to the seal beams, get all the parts from the "donor"
head light doors (trim) buckets, and screws and spring from each side, you will also need the sockets to 'plug' in the seal beams.

The adjustment screws might be shot (rusted out) but the parts store will have replacements in the "help" section.

^^^ Yep, fully agree!

I've found the best H/L adjusters are from about '97-00 with a T-20 Torx head screw, Ford p/n: 6C2Z-13032-A. Much better engagement of the head with the tool. Another tip is applying anti-seize or light machine oil (aka 3-in-1 etc) to the screw threads---makes them easier to turn next time sealed beams are changed.

Thanks for the info. Next time I'm going to get them. To bad there are no such things for the 87 to 91 F-series. Stuck with those crappy fogged up head lamps.....

I was just told about using insect repellent to clean the fog off the head lamps.

I did clean a little off my '02 XLT lights with very little effort.

If you switch over to the sealed beam style headlights, which I strongly recommend, leave the lights at the junkyard and get the hardware mounting only. Then use some Hella e-code H4 headlight inserts and you will be surprised how much more you'll see in front of your van at night .
I run those in my '98 with Osram 55/60W night breaker unlimited bulbs wired via relais directly with heavy gauge wire from the battery with the stock wires only used to switch the relays.
This gives you more current to the bulbs and less power draw through the headlight switch since it only has to switch the relays instead of the whole lights.

I will leave them old bulbs behind as the junk yard nit picks every thing for $$$ and they are ??? on how good they are.

I will use relays to power the head lamps, I have done this to my 89 and 84 F250s. I used a fuse/relay box from a 91 to 94 Explorer. It has enough relays and fuses for head lights and its even setup for the blower motor relay too! Doing that on the F-series trucks eliminated about 15' of 14ga wire and removed the infamous burning blower motor fuse/ignition switch contacts.
