So I got the oil rail and injectors resealed, I air checked it to verify that there was no leaks anymore and it seems all good.

So I assume that this is normal...with the IPR at 0% I can hear the oil bubbling in the crank case, with the IPR at 90% I can still hear some air moving around, but when I disconnect the air hose the rail is definitely pressurized.

My question is will I not hear any air at all when I have the IPR at 90% Its been a while since I air checked 1 and not that I actually have a hose where I can walk away and inspect for leaks I cant remember how the last 1 sounded.

Things just haven't been going good for me and I think I may be over analyzing things here.

I think what I am expecting is to hear a thud and no air like checking a clutch pack or tranny piston but I'm not sure if that's what its supposed to sound like.

Oh well if there is another leak it will be par for the course for me.

How long after you bought the truck did the issue come up?

Its not my truck. It belongs to a customer of mine who bought it a few years back with about 100k on the clock. It was pretty beat, we did some things to get it running. Last year I did head studs, new injectors, EGR delete and all the usual stuff to go with it. It was running great no issues just a no start hot.

Couldn't verify that the STC fitting was ever replaced so I pulled the HPOP cover and looked for myself, sure enough it was updated. He needed the truck for work, so he took it back, and as long as he planned his day and allowed time for it to cool down it would run like a clock.

FF to Tuesday, I had a nice hose made so I can actually air test the HPO system without having to have someone stand at the passenger fender with a blow gun while I hunt around. I found the leak right away on the passenger oil rail, I could see the oil mist when I pulled the fill cap off. So I took the valve cover off, retested and low and behold I had a pretty severe leak at the top of the rear injector. So I pulled the rail, and the top injector seals were pretty hammered. So I resealed all the injectors on that bank, replaced the HPO Rail Cup Nipple seals new stand pipes and dummy plugs too.

So that's where I'm at I just cant remember if you could actually hear the air moving through the system. Like I said its definitely holding pressure but it just doesn't sound like when you air test a clutch pack...not sure that it would.

Just been a nightmare of a week with these things, had another one towed in with a no start, needed a fuel pump it was making a terrible noise and would run the truck out of fuel. And to top the week off I have another 05 that smokes like a freight train in the am, hes a first timer who replace all his injectors, and rebuilt the turbo by himself and he thinks he knows it all so I cant wait to call him and tell him that I probably need to pull the injectors and make sure the seals didn't get torn or he left a copper washer in the cup or something.

Like I said been 1 of those weeks.

You will get some air passing the rear seal for the
gear drive shaft.

I figured the system wasn't a completely sealed system. Anyway truck is all fixed. Fires right up in less than 2 seconds, has good oil pressure at idle now 580-600psi.

I'm thinking of adding a shut off valve to my air hose so I can add smoke from my EVAP machine, maybe a pressure gauge so I can see how much or how long it takes to bleed down.

Anyway all is good in 6.0 world again here.
