Crack at a pillar

That's a strange place for a fatigue crack, but that's what it appears to be. I'd say you need to anneal the metal in order to be able to just weld it up, might be better to cut out and replace. The question is why it cracked? Was the door post itself disconnected from the floor?
there is another crack on the cab mount the truck looks like the mounts had collapsed and maybe riding metal on metal
this is on the lt side I will replace the cowl and the mount but I have more questions than answers this cab is from an f4 that I'm
using as a replacement on my f1
I think I should review and reassess this cab

Crack At Pillar
Roy
my 2 cents - I would clean it all up and weld the pillar cracks and replace the body mount. I replaced both my cab's body mounts and they weren't that hard.
You can always replace the pillar, but then you have to deal with the door hinges.
Hope they get the King fire contained!! Very smokey here too.

Hi dan very heavy smoke today and ash falling like snow not a good day
The cab mount is loose at the front mount where the fire wall brace ties in so I think there was to much flexing from loads on the f4
As far as the cowl there is rust under the cracks and rot at the bottom of the cowl so mite as will open it up and clean out the rot

There is an outer panel and an inner panel in that location (see picture). I agree with Ross, that is a strange place for a crack. But as long as the inner panel is not cracked (inspect from behind) and the rest of the panel where the fenders make contact is OK I wouldn't replace it. I would cut a thin slit along the cracks to make sure that they are clean and to make sure that your welds reach the inner panel.
Outer panel held on to inner panel by spot welds.
Spot weld cutter - use this if you have to replace the panel
