They've just always looked so funny to me. Function wise they kick a$$. But they look so stout because of the short wheelbase. Is it a Cummins? Or a V10?

That Dowel Pin!

Hope it doesn't fall in that range of years (1989 to 1998) that are afflicted with "KDP", aka Killer Dowel Pin or Dowel Pin of Death.

If your Cummins (no G) needs the mod, do it before your 6BT becomes $$$ damaged.

I have observed first hand what that damage looks like. Our school district has a number of buses with the 6BT 5.9 and they don't look pretty after that dowel pin falls out and wastes the front of the engine.

Oh yeah. Timing gears, crank damage, definitely. If your REALLY lucky it'll just fall into the oil pan and you can fix it soon enough but it usually doesn't happen. Mines an 02
