I am sure, I opened up the old trans, and saw that it wasn't a plastic part, but that was built in. When I felt inside the one I just installed, it is a smooth shaft, no grocer for the gear. My gear on the speedometer cable is working fine, I tested both. The new trans had a plug, but I unknowingly thought someone had put in there for transport.

Nope, that plug was factory. Sounds like you got a '92+ transmission.

And no plastic gears that attach to the current output shaft for that I'm sure..........
