Stock rear view mirror?, Is this a correct part number?

I thaught I was lucky and had found a set of NOS stock 6" square rear view mirrors but when I got the photos it was a set of 5" round panel truck mirror heads.

I belived the B7C-17723-B was the sguare ones and that the B6C-17723-B was the round ones?

So whats up guys? wrong box? or wrong information?

Thanks

Now I got it to work

No. It says I do not have permission to view it. You must have it marked Private?

Here is a picture of a NOS 53-56 mirror I found on ebay... I didn't buy it but you can see the number on the box does not match the numbers on your box. Sorry about your luck. I think that those mirrors are for 48-52, but I am not sure. Maybe Bill Number Dummy will be along.

Yepp I have seen that picture before, and that part number is for the whole assembly. Incl arm.

B7 translate to 1957 so I belive the 48-52 are incorrect....I should however add "maybe"

The panel trucks had the 5" round however.

Bit I am still puzzeled...?

Jimcar; I bought a pair of 5" square mirror heads for my truck #B7CZ-17723-B as sown in my 57-63 parts catalog, im not sure what the Z in the part number may mean but the 7 is the year

So FWIIW to me I think the part number does not match the part. (wrong mirrors for the box)

The number on the box is the correct one B7C-17723 B is for a 6" square head less arm for 53 and up.
B6C-17723-B is a 5"round Stainless steel head less arm, so the mirrors you got don't belong to anything there.

Jim, the BAAA number was the original number, the B7 was the updated renumbering that was done in 1957, but still the same mirror. But the bottom line is that the mirrors you got do NOT match the box.

The mirrors for 57 and up (not sure how far up) are painted white or cream, probably snowshoe white.

I bought a pair of NOS white ones a while back thinking I could paint them black and use them on my '54. but I noticed they are smaller than the 53-56 ones. I just measured my spare in the garage and it measures 5 3/4" (5.75") square. So the mirrors for 57 and up trucks are smaller and cream.

The Z in the part number simply indicates Ford service parts division. It was a suffix on the prefix, if you will, added to Ford part numbers in about 1960. You'll find a Y in that place for Lincoln Mercury parts.

From the 1948/56 Ford truck parts catalog, final 1964 edition.

Left: 17723 Mirror Head / S/B = School Bus; P/D = P Series Parcel Delivery.

Right: 17696 Mirror Kit-includes mirror head.

In the late 1950's, Ford changed the basic part number of the mirror kit from 18402 to 17696.

The 4th digit of the suffix (Z) was added to some earlier part numbers in the early 1960's.

Thanks numberdummy.

That pretty much sums it up. It must be the wrong mirrors in that box?

Depending on the description, diameter and the length of the shaft, a round mirror head could be B6CZ-17723-A (5" chrome, replaced B6C-17723-B stainless) or C1UZ-17723-C (6" painted).

Here's what the C1UZ-C Econoline mirror head looks like along with the mirror bracket it was used with.

B3TZ-17696-B (edit: replaced BAAA-18402-B) .. R/L Telescopic Type with 6" Mirror Head (see description in post 11) / Obsolete

MCDONALD OBSOLETE PARTS CO. in Rockport IN has 1 = 812-359-4965.

B6C-18402-A .. 1956/57 Chassis Parts Catalog shows a pic of it...telescopes, R/L is the same. But this mirror is different than B6C-18402-B .. What the difference is, I dunno.

MCDONALD has 2.

Dean McDonald has been selling obsolete Ford parts for decades, ads mainly in Hemmings Motor News. Probably also sells on ebay and at swap meets.

He recently joined PartsVoice.com & rearcounter.com .. so now his inventory is online for y'all to view...as long as y'all have the part numbers.
