Hey fellas,
I've got an '89 XLT Lariat, 302 Windsor, T18 4 speed. I need a new trans for it, but have had trouble finding a suitable replacement from the 87-91 model years in my area. But I have found several T18s in the 80-86 Bullnose trucks. I was wondering if an earlier trans would bolt up and mate correctly with the 1989 5.0L, or if Borg Warner had made any changes.

The older transmissions should have the same bell to trans pattern and same input. Tailshaft housings may vary, so check that.

What's wrong with your trans? Can't you rebuild it for less money and effort than a used trans, which will be a question mark anyway?

5 speed? Checked those out?
