So you are still getting the cyl 8 contribution fault after getting the chip updated ?

Stupid question but just want to make sure.

Did you clear the codes and recheck?

How many miles have u driven it since the injector swap?

No compression test done.

I am still getting the #8 contribution fault after the chip came back yes. I have deleted the fault. About 250-300 miles, I haven't been driving it much. I don't like driving the way it is. I'm probably being overly cautious but I don't like things that aren't 100%. Looks like I'll be borrowing a truck for this coming weekend. I need to tow my Jeep to a rock crawling competition, and I don't trust towing with it. Again probably being overly cautious.

Well, after 250-300 miles the air should be worked out if the system.. I just wanted to ask again to make sure.

And your still getting the damn code. Sounds like a sound plan.

Better to have peace of mind while towing instead of stressing out at ever engine noise during the trip.

Yup still getting the code. More than just the code is the way it idles and hesitates pulling out. I don't really think Jody made a change to the pulse width. He didn't see it necessary. The only thing changed was throttle sensitivity. Pulse width is just over 2 milliseconds at idle.

I'm sorry your right the pulse width was all over the place. Too many datalogs I was mixing them up. The only thing Jody said looked off was the fact I needed more throttle input to maintain speed with the chip compared to with it pulled out. I will recheck the pulse width again.

I suspect sticks, but I couldn't find a trouble code after my speed-reading session. Have you done a KOER? The truck will sound like it's freaking out - so I suggest the "stock" tune during the test.

To clarify:

KOEO = Key On Engine Off
KOER = Key On Engine Running

And just some more info for camparison:

They way I learned it 10 years ago, On a CCT anything under 4% is fine. It's been a long time since I messed with CCT but if u like I can run them on both my 7.3L's so you can have a comparison.

On my Excursion with new 160/80 injectors from FFD I only have 4 or 5 at zero. The rest have some percent under 3 or so. Now having said that, if I change programs to one with a tad higher idle, more go towards zero. If I change it to a high idle program - they all go to zero.

On my F-250 with 8 year old Remans I see #4 with readings around 3-4%, #8 occasionally goes higher than that. It's been that way for a long time.

WB: Thanks for the reference numbers. We will see what if any change the other chip has on things when it gets here.

Ok, It has been a while. The chip FFD sent me to try made no difference in the idle, or hesitation. It did quite down the injectors a fair amount though. I have spoken with Ryan at FFD(a 40min phone call). Turns my local dealer was not getting him all the info I was giving them about what all I have done to diag. the issues. He was very helpful and took the time to come up with a solution with me. I do feel it is just the #8 injector causing the problems, but I wanted new ones for peace of mind. So I am sending the remans back and getting the %30 nozzles swapped over to a set of new AC's. At a cost to me of course, but a fair price IMO.

After the new injectors are in, then it's time for some more tuning changes. There are some things I would like changed, especially after going through this process and learning a lot. I feel some of the noise difference between tunes is injection timing. The ICP and pulse width is very similar with both tunes, and stock. I can't see injection timing data with what I have. Also Jody told me there is no change in tuning for stage one(160cc/stock nozzles), and stage 1.5(160cc/%30 nozzles) This seems odd to me, and Ryan at FFD suggested the nozzle change should be accounted of in tuning.

Ok, new injectors are in. The shake at idle, and hesitation are gone. Thanks to everyone that had suggestions and helped me out.
