ABS pumping without brakeing in mud?

I've noticed that my 06 f350 will pump the ABS when pulling in muddy spots, mostly in 4x4? It will even start to cook the pads after a bit of spinning.
I'm not doing any serious off-road stuff, just trying to pull random farm equipment/trailers. Do these trucks have some sort of traction control that I don't know about or dose my ABS think I have my foot on the brake all the time?

if your brake switch is sensing your pushing the brake when your not you need to adjust it, maybe the bouncing is kicking your brake switch on and off at the pedal and makeing abs go nutz

The brake lights work correctly so I'm assuming the switch is working. Like I said not doing any hard core off roading or bouncing, just pulling farm trailers on slimy ground and I'm not mashing the crap out of the skinny pedal but giving it just enough to keep the tires digging.

I should add that I can tell my brake lights are working correctly also from my aftermarket Electric brake controller. Also that it's not all the time just when it's really digging ruts.

Pulled a pair of wagons out of a really muddy field today and the ABS pump was going like crazy, it actually seemed to help with keeping the slipping tires held back. I'm still trying to figure out if there's some sort of traction control or if there's something wrong with my truck? It only does it when one tire really gets to digging in 2wd or 4wd?

I think there's something other than the brake light switch that actually tells the truck that you're applying the brakes. I say this because if I have the cruise control set and just barely tap the brake pedal, the brake lights come on but the cruise control doesn't cancel. In order to cancel the cruise control, I have to actually press on the pedal and apply the brakes a bit.

It should be the traction control engaging to prevent wheel spin. Do you have a button on the dash to turn it off?

Did they have traction control in 06? It definitely sounds like traction control engaging, but my 05 doesn't have it.

Yes, sounds like the TC working.

Don't know what year they started putting it on these trucks.

It does act like traction control but it isn't very aggressive compared to anything I've driven with T/C, I owned this truck for two years before I noticed. There isn't any thing in the owners manual that I can find that suggests that there is T/C and it doesn't have an off button.
It isn't what I would consider a problem but is more something my truck does and I can't explain and I am a curious guy.
