Hi,
My name is Jon and I live in Fernley, NV. I work in Fremont, CA. Try to get home as much as possible.
My current daily driver is a 2013 Toyota Tacoma TRD Sport package. It's been a great truck, just not working out for what I need now and in the future.
Been looking at 2014/2015 Ford, GMC, Dodge 2500 diesels to keep things equal.
Test drove all three last weekend and had some good things to say about each one.
Firstly, I/family haven't had the greatest of luck with Dodges, GM products, or Fords for that matter, but we have had great luck with Toyota products.
I have a 1979 Toyota FJ40 that will need to be hauled around, hence the need for a 3/4 ton truck.
My wife drives a 2004 Toyota Land Cruiser.
My alternate driver is a 2012 Subaru STi.
Some thoughts on the Ford. We drove a 2015 King Ranch and only had 1 issue, the sunroof. My head is into the ceiling, so don't like the sunroof. Everything else about the truck was great.
Some thoughts on the GMC. I wanted to drive a 2500 Denali, but they only had a SLT in stock. Seems like a nice truck, lots of headroom, legroom, good power, drawback, no longbed available on the Denali model (according to website build). Cool tailgate feature, soft opening feature.
Some thoughts on the Dodge. Louder engine than the other two, might have to shut it off in a drive through. I like straight sixes, had them in other land cruisers. Power seemed good, interior was nice too. I like the Laramie Long Horn edition.
In the end, talking with the wife (she's a Ford girl). I have decided to go with the 2015 King Ranch. Did my build on the website (no sunroof) so, just contacting different dealers to get the best price and then to sell my trusty taco.
I've been lurking for a few days reading up on 2015s and other stuff, so this will all be new to me for awhile.
Thanks and hope to contribute a little bit in the future.
Jon
