I have read a lot on this forum and I come to the conclusion... Use 87 driving around town... Use 92 while towing. Anybody else come to this conclusion?
Denny,
Do you think the 6.2L would tow better with 92 octane?
No I don't at not with a stock tune like I'm running. Any gain would be lost in the increased cost of the fuel and how long has that 92 been sitting in the storage, I'm sure it's not as fresh as the 87 would be.
Same here. I use 87 at all times. I once used 85 by accident driving through Montana loaded and my truck would start up with a rough idle for a few seconds and then smooth out. So I stuck with mid grade in Montana until I found 87 again. Not used to seeing 85 out here in SoCal.
I seem to get slightly worse mileage running 91. I don't have any tunes but if I average 12 it drops to 10.5-11 running 91. I stick with 87 and it does fine under all conditions
