Gearhead yard sale at my place...
Come on over this Thursday… I know this ain't the classifieds but I thought I'd let you guys in on what I'll be doing Thursday. The last time I did this about four years ago I sold over $1,500.00 worth of junk… oops, I mean antiques. This is my CL ad….
My bride is having a yard sale so I have decided to add a few things for the gearheads out there. . . Large quantity of machinists taps (up to 1 1/4"), vintage Cromwell motorcycle helmet, Ford 8" rear gear, shop-built frame rotissorie, Oldsmobile 330 short block, disassembled, racing cam, etc, Chevy 327 crankshaft, '37 Ford rear radius rods, (2) MOPAR 833A overdrive transmissions, Model A front crossmember, '52 Pontiac hardtop project car, Chevy truck arm rear suspension kit for 50's Chevy/Ford trucks, 1/2 set of early Chrysler Hemi adjustable rockers arms, early Hemi non-adjustable rockers (1/2 set), early Hemi timing cover, early Hemi industrial water pump, 392 water pump, 351-C 2V heads with exhaust manifolds, flathead Mercury heads, small mechanical press (can be converted to hydraulic), 15 gallon gas tank for hot rod, Hot Rod Magazine clock, B-O-P TH-400 transmission, limited edition NASCAR print framed, misc. hot rod mags from the 80's-90's and more. I'll be adding more stuff to this list as I dig thru my collection. Thursday September 18th. . . 8AM-6PM

Next time you drive past the USS Wisonsin give her a wave… I may scoot down there and see the ship in February if we do a little vacation in Florida...

I was there just a couple weeks ago. I was in the NAV when they brought them out of mothballs, and count myself lucky to have been able to sail alongside her during work-ups for Desert Storm. A truly impressive sight to see her fire those guns. It is disheartening though to see her welded to the pier, and I wish the city of Norfolk would spend a little more money on maintaining her. I helped de-com the Iowa, a sad day indeed.

If I remember correctly ( getting harder to do) when she fired three at the same time it would push like 9 feet sideways. They were impressive to see underway. I wish they would have completed the USS Montana, but the war was over, they had the keel laid and decided not to finish her. She was gonna have 18 inch guns.

Man I'm getting to old for this stuff… up @ 6:30 AM. Sale started at 8:00AM. kept having customers until 7PM… I'm beat. Did OK with the $$$… I think we did about $600.00 between the wife and I. I unloaded lots of small parts… then my grandson and I loaded a pile of scrap that we'll take in tomorrow. Finally using the F350 for what it's intended….
