MarksA-C's Truck "Build" Thread
Sorry for the lack of a fancy title. I'm finally deciding to make a thread for my trucks "build". The truck is my 2004 F150 XLT. I got it in April of 2012 with 89,000 miles and now I just rounded over 135,000 miles. Runs fantastic and have been getting most of its maintenance in a meticulous and timely manner. I use my truck 75% of the time for commuting to work and taking the fiancee and her son around town . The rest of the time I haul scrap, motorcycles, tractors, and go on road trips. Don't want it lifted much, just making it heavy duty and enjoyable to drive. Simplicity is key with this one.
Right now its getting to that point where it is going to be needing some attention and upgrades. Already have a pile of parts to tackle the upcoming maintenance but got some other things to attend to as well. Rust is the main thing I'm tackling right now. The rear wheel arches are bubbling bad and need to be taken care of ASAP. Other than that the truck is dang near spotless but I will still be undercoating the whole thing.
Upgrades that are planned.
- Diamond Steel front and rear bumpers
- Steel running boards in place of OEM plastic
- Increased rear and side window tints
- Full LED conversion, inside and out
- Radio/Speaker upgrade
- Drilled/Slotted Brake Rotors
- Rancho Quick-lift leveling struts and rear shocks
- NEW rear leaf spring packs
- Onboard air compressor
- CB radio (Use in the northwoods)
I'd say thats enough of boring you with words. Here are some of the basic pictures. Last picture is how it looks now, ended up removing the Bully Bar after I rear ended my buddies Ranger. Not a scratch on my truck at least!

Currently gathering parts and other bits. This is what I have so far.
New leaf spring packs, new shackles, drilled and slotted rotors with ceramic pads, Jerry cans for future idea on the truck, and new VCT solenoids since they should be replaced at 120k and will probably quite down my engine pretty well. No phaser noise yet.
Also got a quote on the rust repair, its going to need a new panel and overall is $700. Not TOO bad but its money I don't have right now sadly.
