f-250 4wd conversion

hey guys,

Looking to get a donor f250 here in the very near future. My current LD 250 has the 4.9 mated with a t-18 4 speed. i would really like to keep my current tranny but only if I can can get a transfer case to bolt behind it. Are t cases tranny specific? If they are, I assume I will have to keep my eye out for a half ton with a t-18 4wd combo (correct me if I am wrong). As far as the front axle is concerned, do the front a rear axle ratios need to match?

As most people say when doing this, buying another truck is just not an option for me right now (sentimental reasons )

If anyone would like to check out my truck thus far, here is a link to my thread:

Unfortunately you need a 4x4 version of the transmission, unless you feel like disassembling it, installing a 4x4 output shaft and acquiring the correct transmission>transfercase adapter.

Front and rear axle ratios must match.
