The OPs issue is either a simple electrical fix that can be fixed by checking for voltage at various spots in the truck or his truck was flashed incorrectly. Since the trailer simulator worked at the dealer and the trailer works connected to another Ford, I would start with the connection to the trailer. His pin could be dirty, bent, pushed in or something preventing a good electrical connection.

All pins are clean and straight. Dealership here is positive that the truck was not flashed properly. Managed to get an appointment at a 3rd dealership this afternoon to get the computer re-flashed so hopefully we can get on with our vacation. Fingers crossed.

Hopefully you found a good dealership. Once the controller works it's nice. Good Luck.

Problem solved. Thanks guys. CPU was never flashed. Just hooked up the trailer and everything works great. Big thanks to Jacobsen Ford in Salmon Arm BC for getting me up and running.

Glad to hear this was taken care of, Colin. I'm happy to document your dealer feedback. Please send me a private message with your full name and best daytime contact number and I'll get started on that right away! Additionally, I'll be here to answer any other questions you have moving forward. Have a great day!

I had a 2012 XL, no hitch, or trailer package of any kind.
I installed the Ford Brake Controller and added the wiring harness with the seven pin plug.
Dealer flashed the controller, and his machine showed everything was fine.
Hooked to trailer and 'no trailer attached"
Well there was a wire from the plug connection on the left front fender, that had the controller wire going that far, but was not there, to go on to the new harness in the rear.
Dealer Tech added the wire, and everything went as designed.
No one knows if the wire was supposed to be there or not, from the factory. Just my .02
