Another Safe Trip-Great Truck
Well, another safe trip from California back to Kansas is in the books, that's trip 10. I still smile when I think about what a great job this truck does pulling my 35' 5th wheel, and realize it was worth every penny.
1792 miles and the truck stays between 10.9 mpg and 11.2 about 75%-80% of the time. I pull at 60 mph which is about 1800 rpm as I have a 4.10LS rearend.
A light tailwind will see the mileage go to 12.5 mpg. I just turned over 40K on the truck near home. So far all I have done is the normal maintenance. I sample all the water separators frequently. Every gallon of fuel has been treated with either Power Source grey/white and oil changes are at 4500-5000 miles with Rotella 15W-40.
I have 100 gallon fuel capacity, and we don't stop except when the dog needs to do her business. So, hour after hour of 60 mph and Sirius radio listening.
Which reminds me, I just renewed Sirius. I always do the day before it expires and always get 50% off. I tell them to cancel subscription if I don't get half off.
OK, better get to work on something. I hope you all have a great day and are enjoying your trucks as much as mine. Mine will be going back in the garage for the winter, pulling the 5er is all it does.
Happy and safe driving to all!!!

Actually the tires are General Grabber HTS. They have worn very evenly, especially the rears. The fronts are wearing evenly, just showing a little more wear. Like I said just turned over 40K as I was about home. I've never had a set of Generals, many sets of Goodyears and Michelins over the years. However, I'm thinking very seriously of another set of exactly the same tire when it's time.
