Yeah, the more I see it like this the more I like it. The dents also have stories, so....well time will tell.

Well, now you have gotten about every possible different answer. That's one thing I love about this site, you get to hear all the pros and cons about a direction you would like to go and you will get support for whatever decision you make. Well, as long as you post pictures.

Be sure to keep us up on what you finally decide. You have a lot to think over.

Dude, I cant blame you for wanting to drive it, but your so close. I guess if you don't mind doing some of the work twice, like windshield, door latches etc. What Ross said about a new motor, makes me ask, is that gorgeous 351 freshly rebuilt? That could be the deciding factor if it were mine.

It is a rebuild. Procomp alum heads and intake, bigger cam, and the PO had all the receipts from machine shop who built it. If I wait to paint the cab and doors at least, that'll mean saving up another $2000-$3000. I'm sure I'm like most guys on here, and money IS an object to me....

If you put her back together and drive the bugs outa it,,, it will add to the time it takes to get to completion, ,, but also add to the fun factor..
YOUR decision but I say drive it !!!!!
Good luck with whatever you decide.

I'm in the 'drive it ' crowd. I have to spend careful attention to detail in my every day work. After work and on weekends when my time is my own, I like it a bit rough and relaxed. You can paint it afterwards if you feel like it. And that is Coolest corvette I have ever seen.

Just to throw in my two cents; I'm in the "drive it" camp. We had one project car we wound up selling as-is because it had become a storage dump in the garage after we lost motivation and stopped working on it.
With the '56, we backed her off the trailer, put some air in the tires, and took her for a spin around the block. Even now, she needs some work, but whenever we need a bit of motivation, I convince Dan to take me for a ride and she always manages to get us excited again.
Tough decision to make, though!

I am biased because I love driving my rat rods, or patina rods, or whatever you want to call them. I am in the middle of one of those builds now, and I say get it out and drive it but with a twist. I do the build so when paint time comes there is not a ton of work to redo. Get the floors done and the underside of the cab bedlined or painted now, same with the firewall, inner fenders, and radiator support. That way to do the paint the cab does not have to come off, outer front sheet metal can come off but the truck can stay running. That is exactly how I am doing my current truck and last couple car builds.
Plus it is a nice feeling to drive your hot rod and not care about rock chips and door dings all the time.
